How to Use a Handsaw – A 1,2,3 Fast Guide to Cutting Wood

The fast guide to cutting wood from the DAB team.

Follow:

Correct Saw
Make sure you have the right saw for the job.

Mark Up
Use pencil and square to align and draw. Then clamp the wood.

Start Slow
At a 45 angle, a few light strokes to make a groove.

Bigger Strokes
Keep elbow in line with blade and wrist straight. Begin larger firmer strokes.

Relax
Take it easy, keep strokes consistent. Let the teeth do the work.

DAB Words:

I you ever see a glorious rustic or vintage saw or any tool for that matter. If you can buy it, oil it and fit it to the wall in your workshop. A number of years down the line you will have a spectacular looking wall. Ive seen a number of these and they look amazing.
