At DAB Chic & Vintage, we've spent years using, sharpening, blunting and throwing away good and bad chisels. 2 brands have always stood out for me and Phil has added a third which he swears by. Here we go.
Lie-Nielsen
- Precision made with A2 tool steel - keeps a sharp edge for longer
- Longevity - more likely to hand down than throw away
- Best used for joinery and other fine woodwork
Two Cherries
- High carbon steel - keeps a great edge
- Hand forged - always good to see
- Really useful for carving and classic woodworkers
Ashley Iles
- Extremely tough - very intricate chisels and great with detailed work
- Hand forged - again we love to see this
- Made here in the UK
